MBA

Overview

The MBA program is a two-year full-time study program spread over six trimesters. Students need to successfully complete sixty-six credit hours comprising foundation courses, analytical tool courses, core and functional area courses, integrative courses, concentration and electives along with thematic graduate seminars, workshops, Internships, and Graduate Research Projects. MBA at Excel is intended to bring corporate change in Nepal through the transformation of students into competent managers, executives, and entrepreneurs capable of becoming strategic change agents in the corporate and social world by providing them with a firm grasp of broad-based and integrated fundamentals of management with real-life applications. The program focuses on developing social and developmental outlook and adequate skill in analysis, decision-making, implementation, practicums, leadership, and communication among the students to acquire modern management skills, enhance their managerial capabilities, adopt success-oriented and career­ focused attitudes to lead an organization in a highly dynamic and competitive global business environment.

Curricular Structure:

The MBA program has been designed at 60 credit hours with 26 course components including internship project or thesis. There will be two non-credit courses for non-management background students. Each course component has a weight of 2 or 3 credit hours requiring a minimum of 32 or 48 direct class contact hours per semester and 5 credit hours for Internship or Thesis. Admission Procedure

Applicants must pass the admission test conducted by Excel Business College. Successful candidates in the test must participate in a comprehensive interview at Excel Business College.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for admission to the MBA program, an applicant must have a minimum of 15 years of formal education (12 years of schooling plus three years of graduation). Furthermore, the applicant must have secured a minimum CGPA of 2.0 or 45 percent at Bachelor’s level. The final decision on admission is taken on the basis of scores on the admission test, group discussion, and interview.

Documents Requirements

The applicant is required to submit the following documents:
  • Completed and Signed the MBA Application Form.
  • Letter of Reference from Two Referees.
  • Attested Copies of all Academic Transcript (SLC onwards).
  • Attested Copies of all Character Certificate (SLC onwards).
  • Original Migration Certificate of Last Degree (If any academic degree from a foreign university, the copy of the equivalent certificate).
  • Attested Copy of Citizenship Two Copies of Recent Passport Size Photographs.

Evaluation System

Excel Business College strictly follows Pokhara University’s evaluation system to measure students’ academic performance. The system is as follows:

Internal Evaluation: Sixty percent (60%) weight is given to internal evaluation. Internal evaluation will be done by the concerned faculty member in a prescribed format by the college under university guidelines.
External Evaluation (Trimester End Examination): Forty percent (40%) weight is given to external evaluation. The end-of-the-trimester examination is conducted by the Office of the Controller of Examination, Pokhara University.

Grading System: MBA

The pass mark in each course will be a minimum Grade of C or a GPA of 2.0. However, students must secure a minimum CGPA of 3.0 at the end of the program.
